Fermenting process in beer brewing starts when the yeasts are added and this stage is really when beer becomes beer.
- The yeast is added when the wort is below 70 degrees. In a couple hours the fluffy head will start to appear.
- This is where the yeast cells multiply and do their magic.
- Then at the end of the week it is put into another fermentation tank and the yeast that is left in the bottom will be used for another batch of wort.
- The after another week it is then put into kegs.
Today’s breweries use cylindroconical vessels that are shaped like cones so the yeast and other solids fall to the bottom and can be flushed out. Open fermentation vessels are also used in some breweries but the risks of infections are greater because of the top being opened. They can prevent this by keeping it sterile and cleaned spotless.
